LIMITED EDITION CD LUZERNER SINFONIEORCHESTER SHOWCASES RACHMANINOFF’s OWN STEINWAY & UNKNOWN PHOTOGRAPHS FROM SENAR A brand new CD from the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester containing both of Rachmaninoff’s ‘Swiss’ opuses - the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and the Third Symphony - has recently appeared worldwide. Especially for this recording Rachmaninoff’s own Steinway D 276741 was transported to the KKL Luzern. Pianist Bezhod Abduraimov plays this wonderful instrument in the Rhapsody, throwing in a beguiling performance of Tchaikovsky’s Lullaby in Rachmaninoff’s transcription for piano solo. The CD appears in a limited edition holding mostly unseen pictures from Sergei Rachmaninoff's private photo album that was recently discovered at Senar, some of them carrying the composer’s handwriting. Each of them has been meticulously restored by the Rachmaninoff Network’s photography expert Hans Sierat. The liner notes to this CD are written by Marina Frolova-Walker and Elger Niels (Rachmaninoff Network) on the basis of recent research at SENAR. Produced by SONY Music this CD is now available worldwide. Order number: 19075981622.
